Frida Vaněk, niece of famous Czech writer/dissident Ferdinand Vaněk, grew up in America. When Frida's mother dies, Frida finds a file her mother had hidden all her life. It takes Frida in through a series of meetings in Amsterdam, across America, and eventually back in Prague, in search of the correct moral response to both the past and the present.
